The Annual Hours & Earnings survey provisional results for 2015 shows that average pay in Oldham still remains the lowest in Greater Manchester, a position it has occupied for almost 11 years. Using the median method of calculation Oldham average pay is 19.3% lower than the England average and using the mean method they are 22% lower than the England average. For the foreseeable future the public funded Labour Oldham current regeneration schedule will only serve to increase low paid & part time employment, tax credit reliance, demand for social housing and escalating local government long-term debts.
